Awards Received by Hearthstone


Citation of Honor from the International Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (IAHSA) awarded to Hearthstone’s “Artists for Alzheimer’s Program” in 2005 in recognition of the prgram's innovation and excellence that contributes significantly to the quality of life of the individuals served.

Top Ten Award for Most Innovative Facilities in Healthcare Hearthstone Alzheimer Care was selected in September, 2001 as a Top Ten Award recipient by the Center for Innovation in Healthcare Facilities. The Award is for the "Design Principles for Dementia Environments", which Hearthstone developed based on findings by Hearthstone's Research Division and funded by the National Institute of Aging. These design principles form the basis of the physical design in Hearthstone's Assisted Living Dementia Residences. The Commonwealth Institute/Babson College research study to identify the Top 100 Woman-Led Companies in Massachusetts has recognized Dr. Joan Hyde as an outstanding business leader in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and will formally recognize her at One Financial Center in Boston on February 5, 2002.

ALFA Hero Award Presented to Janet Pozen in recognition of exceptional devoted service as Hearthstone at New Horizons' volunteer. Presented by the Assisted Living Federation of America at its national meeting in Dallas April 1999, the award recognized the development of the Hearthstone Family Program.

The Alzheimer's Association
in Massachusetts and New York has given Hearthstone many plaques and citations to express their appreciation of Hearthstone's support.

First Alzheimer's Assisted Living in Massachusetts Proclamation by Governor William Weld, presented at the opening of Hearthstone at Golden Pond by then Lieutenant-Governor Paul Celluci and Secretary of Elder Affairs Frank Oliviere.

MASS ALFA Program Innovation Award The Hearthstone "Life Quality Program" designed by Drs. Hyde and Zeisel won the 1996 Program Innovation Award from the Massachusetts Assisted Living Facilities Association.

EDRA Place Research Award The Hearthstone design team, led by Doctors Zeisel and Hyde, won First Annual Place Research Award in 1998 from the Environmental Design Research Association for innovative design of their Alzheimer programs.

AlphaPLAN Assisted Living Software, developed by Hearthstone Alzheimer Care, was selected by the National Institute on Aging to be showcased at its Annual Small Business Innovations Research Conference.
