Letters to Hearthstone "Dear Ones, A Hearthstone Family Member "Hearthstone has been a Godsend to
my family & me. You are fortunate to have the most caring & capable
staff." "Each time I visit my mother at Hearthstone,
I am reminded of how fortunate our family is that such a superb program
is available. The staff continues to be warm, loving and supportive and
to provide an excellent program which helps the residents maintain their
dignity by offering a choice of meaningful activities." "My mother has always had 'girlfriends.'
As her Alzheimer's disease developed she became more and more isolated.
Now that she lives at Hearthstone, she shares the affection and company
of friends again." "When I walk into Hearthstone, the
air is fresh. It is inviting, spotlessly clean, and beautifully decorated.
There are family members everywhere. Some are happily singing, other playing
games or kicking a ball around on the patio. Some are resting or snacking
or enjoying TV. Some are getting personal care and encouragement. And
then there are those very important others - those working to make it
all come together!" "I used to worry so much whenever I
couldn't be with my Mom to take care of her. As much as I wanted to, I
just couldn't be there with her 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, yet, that's
when she might have needed me. Now that she is at Hearthstone, I can be
certain that she is with people who love and care for her all the time." "When my family could no longer care
for my dad, I began researching assisted care facilities. One piece of
advice has held true: pick a place less on how well it's decorated and
more on the quality of staff. Based on that principle, Hearthstone has
been a good fit." "Let me begin by saying how pleased
I am at the level of sensitivity shown by the staff in their attitude
towards the residents. This permits the residents to maintain a level
of dignity and independence that they would not receive in a nursing home
or hospital. Yet, along with sensitivity, they are professional and able
to react decisively when a crisis arises. My mother has fallen from time
to time because of her medication and her weakening knees. At such time,
the staff has seen to it that she was taken to the hospital and stayed
with her - keeping me informed throughout. I truly appreciate that level
of commitment and I know my mother would as well. Thanks for a job well
done!" "My husband loves to walk. He has to
have the freedom to move around, to see and do things. At Hearthstone
he goes out to the garden whenever he chooses. He feels good." "My dad has Alzheimer's disease. He
and the staff at Hearthstone have taught me how to truly be present in
the moment." "A big 'thank you' to all the staff
members and dedicated Resident Assistants. Without their caring and personal
attention, my mom would not consider Hearthstone her home. She loves it
and misses it when she is away. Again, thank you for making my mom's life
special." "Your special planning for all our
fun events attests to your attention to detail and you wonderful ideas.
My father loves dogs - so thanks for Molly's visits - I know he enjoys
her." "Thank you for all of your support
and for being a real 'family'." "My mother has now been at Hearthstone
for almost four years and I never cease to wonder - and be deeply grateful
- to all of the staff. They have a very tough, demanding job, yet their
love and devotion to the residents shines through. They are unfailingly
patient in circumstances that are often tense and trying.
