To give you an idea of the type of activities that will be a success with this group, we have created the following list of suggested activities. Each of the items on this list will capture their imagination and link into their long term memories. This is just a partial list of things that we have tried. We encourage you to use your creativity! We will work with you to help you find the performance or activity that will be the most successful with people who have Alzheimer's disease. | ||
| Actors |
Read a scene from a polular play from the 1950's, like "Our Town." Read or perform a well known scene from a classic play like the famous balcony scene from Rome and Juliet. Lead a discussion about popular movies or plays and act out a scene. Perform a script from an old radio program. Perform an animated reading of folk stories. Perform a puppet show. Perform a comedy skit, especially physical comedy; perhaps with props. Circus performers could juggle or do a clown act. |

Musicians |
Play popular and familiar tunes from the 50's and 60's, show tunes, folk songs, jingles, spiritual music, Hannukah or Christmas carols or very well know classical tunes like Vivaldi's 4 seasons. Use your instrument to lead a musical group participation activity like clapping along to a song. |

Tap dance. Demostrate popular dances from the last century. |

| Visual artists |
Bring in visual art, talk about it and show it - flowers, children , animals. Draw popular or well known faces or landmarks and have our residents guess who/what they are. Photographers could bring in photo shows of popular destinations. |

| Academics | Lead a discussion about their discipline accompanied with images that most everyone would recognize, for example: the Sphinx, Grand Canyon, Statue of Liberty, etc. | |
| Chefs | Demonstrate a cooking technique or help participants create a simple dish. | |
