Each Hearthstone residence has two or more nurses who help residents coordinate health-related needs in keeping with Hearthstone's goal of creating an environment where people with cognitive impairment can flourish.

Hearthstone nurses oversee all aspects of residents' health care, including medications, medical monitoring, and arrangements with family for appropriate medical, dental and podiatric appointments. Due to Assisted Living regulations, nurses perform limited hands-on care. Nurses serve as active members of the site management team and participate in the development of programs. Nurses actively work with residents in small group settings. They also work with staff, family members, and health professionals coordinating information regarding issues related to health care and dementia.

In Massachusetts, Hearthstone hires both Registered Nurses and Practical Nurses who are licensed in MA. In New York State, Hearthstone nurses must have a New York State RN license.

Candidates should have experience working with individuals with dementia and/or related disorders.
