The Executive Director at each Hearthstone residence plans, organizes, implements and supervises the overall functioning of the Hearthstone Alzheimer's unit to assure that program and resident goals are met. He or she facilitates functioning of the interdisciplinary team responsible for the unit, and provides appropriate training, counseling, and support.

The Executive Director supervises staff and manages the budget to ensure the fulfillment of program goals. He or she is also responsible for compliance with all government programs and best practices in resident care.

To be qualified, an Executive Director candidate should have thorough knowledge of and experience with dementia population and appropriate therapeutic interventions for this population. Candidates must also possess interpersonal skills, energy and desire necessary to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, families and resident. They must also have a degree in Nursing, Social Work, Counseling or comparable experience.
