This is one of the biggest elections in history and every vote counts!  All registered voters will walk with us 2 blocks to vote for America 's next president.  Absentee Ballots are an option as well.

Sunday, November 9 th
Teensgiving at Hearthstone
On November 9 th , hundreds of volunteers will make a difference in New York City .  8 Teenagers will be joining us from 10:45 am - 2:45 pm for a full day of activities. We will have a Collaborative Bingo Game, a Storytelling Group, and we will also work together to create hand-made Thanksgiving Cards to send to our loved ones. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring together two different generations to create a lasting and memorable experience!

Veterans Day Patriotic Musical Performance at 3:30
This is day to acknowledge all the men and women who have served and are serving this great country. Please join us as we sing Patriotic Songs and pay tribute to all the Veterans of America.

Hearthstone's Trip to the Big Apple Circus at Lincoln Center
An annual Hearthstone Event free to the Hearthstone Family. Family and friends are encouraged to join us at Lincoln Center .  So begins the Big Apple Circus 31st season (and coincidently, Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.) The music is a jazzy mix of classical, rock and soul; the food is popcorn and; young and old will love the all new show.  Please join us for an 11:30 Matinee Show and RSVP with Jodie Berman .

Learn How to Paint with Water Color
Please come and join Jodie's Art Group at 1:30 pm on Tuesday the 18 th and Wednesday the 19 th . You will learn how use watercolor paint, blend colors and experiment the best way for you to create and express yourselves with this wonderful and free flowing medium.

Pie Baking Day
Do you like to bake?  Well this is the day to help Hearthstone prepare for our Thanksgiving Party for the Hearthstone Family.  We need chefs and bakers to help us prepare pecan, pumpkin, and apple pies!

The Belly Dancers, Ice Cream Cake and More!
Together we will recognize and celebrate all Residents and Staff members who were born in the month of November.  We will sing songs; have Carvel Ice Cream Cake and punch, in room full of balloons.  Come hear what famous person was born on your birthday!  Family and Friends are welcome!  We will also enjoy a one hour performance from The Belly Dancers at 3:30 pm for all the Scorpios to enjoy!

Trip to the Movies for the Tribeca Film Festival
“ A Walk Down Memory Lane ”
A Walk Down Memory Lane is a one-of- a Kind film experience, designed specifically for people living with memory loss and their loved ones. Short clips from classic films will be shown, immediately followed by audience discussion and reminiscence, guided by a moderator. Come join Hearthstone for this wonderful annual event!

Friday, October 10 th
Trip to Central Park with The Photography Club
Come and join us for a trip to Central Park as we commence the first day of the Hearthstone Photography Club. Together, we will take the cross- town bus at 10:30 and begin our walk through the scenic central park. Each resident will have their own instant camera to begin our collaborative documentation of

“The trees and how they change through the season”.  This will be the first part of “Change of Seasons” photography group as it will continue through the season of autumn until winter.

Saturday, October 11 th
Live Music Performance of the Duet featuring international singer Linda Kunkin
Linda Kunkin and her husband will be performing live for us @ 3:30 in the Dining Room. The music will feature the most popular songs from all languages, with a special focus on Italian Songs and we approach Columbus Day!

Tuesday, October 14 th - the 16 th @ 2:00
Harvest Pumpkin Art Display
Come and be a part of this 3 day art project and help create our three dimensional Harvest Pumpkin Display, which will be on view through the month of October. Jodie Berman will be giving a hands-on demonstration beginning at 2:00 on Tuesday, as we all learn how to combine multi-media art techniques to create an individual pumpkin sculpture for each resident who joins!

Tuesday, October 21 st
“Name That Tune with Jeff”
On Tuesday at 11:00 am please join us in the Dining Room for an interactive music group where everyone will have a chance to name and sing- along to familiar songs of your generation!

Wednesday, October 22 nd
Trip to The Metropolitan Museum of Art
One hour and 30 minute special guided tour will begin at 10:30 of the featured exhibition entitled: New York , NY Why? Photographs by Rudy Burckhardt, 1937–1940,  T he Howard Gilman Gallery, In the late 1930s, Rudy Burckhardt—then a recent émigré to America from Switzerland —created what are today considered to be some of the greatest photographs of New York ever made. This exhibition will present in its entirety a unique album (acquired by the Museum in 1972) of 67 now-classic images of street furniture, outdoor advertising, and pedestrians, selected and sequenced by Burckhardt in 1940.

NYC Chapter's 20 th Annual Memory Walk
The Hearthstone-Manhattan team is raising money to donate and help support a wide range of Alzheimer's-related programs and services. Our staff, residents and family will be walking along Riverside Drive in hand-made tie-dye shirts, so please contact Hearthstone if you would like to help support by joining us in the walk and/or making a donation.

Halloween Costume Party with Live Musical Entertainment
Our Halloween party will kick off at 2:00 with a costume party show with 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd place prized for the best voted costume, with a prize for everyone who dresses in the spirit!. This will follow by a Halloween bingo and special desert with a 1 hour music performance from our surprise singer!  This day in an excuse to wear what ever we want, so come and join us a day of fun as we close the festive month of October
