Wednesday, October 1 st
Anniversary of the debut of Charles Schultz “Peanuts”
Take a trip back in time to 1950 and we'll reminisce about our favorite comic strip. We will use our community computer to visit www.peanuts.com and gather information about the comic strip, and Charles Schultz. We also have a “Peanuts” trivia crossword to do together!

Thursday, October 2 nd
10:30 am
Music with Skye Hurlburt
Join us to hear the beautiful harp playing of a returning favorite, Skye Hurlburt. She entertains us with selections from England , Ireland , and Scotland .

Monday, October 6 th
Anniversary of Robert Hutchings
We will celebrate the birth anniversary of Robert Hutchings Goddard, the “Father of the Space Age”. Let's explore all the information we can gather about him, and in the evening, we will watch the movie “October Sky” which details the events of his life.

Wednesday, October 8 th
Music of Richard Hughes
Richard Hughes joins us at 10:30 to perform on his keyboard while showing a classic silent movie. Always a crowd pleaser!!!

Wednesday, October 15 th
National Cake Decorating Day
We will gather in the kitchen at 10:30 to bake some cakes which our staff will have to compete to decorate! Make sure to stop by and vote for your favorite! We will have our cake and eat it, too, at 2:30!

Thursday, October 16 th
“Dictionary Day”
A day long celebration of the anniversary of the birth of Noah Webster. Trivia, games, and conversation throughout the day will focus on this very important person and his contribution to our society.

Monday, October 20 th
Gourmet Coffee Day
We will sample various flavored coffees throughout the day, and learn about the history of the coffee bean.

Wednesday, October 22 nd
Ted Powers at 6:00pm
Our favorite tap dancer will return to dance and sing for us. Join us in the living room after dinner to enjoy Ted's talents.

Sunday, October 26 th
Magician Eddie Raymond
2:00 pm
Join us as we will kick off International Magic Week.  Come and be amazed and entertained by the magic and comedy of Eddie Raymond. A treat for ALL AGES!!! Bring the grandkids!!!!

Wednesday, October 29 th
Cinnamon Day
Did you know that cinnamon has had many other uses than baking, over the years? Wealthy Romans used it as perfume, and in love potions! We will discuss that, and much more, and we'll prepare a treat flavored with (you guessed it!) CINNAMON

Friday, October 31 st
HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Costumed Happy Hour at 2:30pm
Staff and residents will enjoy our weekly Happy Hour with a twist, we have to be in costume!! Trick or treat?!

Friday, September 5 th
National Cheese Pizza Day
We will call the delivery boy and gather to enjoy a cheese pizza together! We will discuss the origins of this favorite food staple. Hold the anchovies!

Sunday, September 7 th
Harvest Fair at New Horizons
Family and friends have been invited by New Horizons to join in their annual event full of fun, food, and entertainment against the backdrop of beautiful Fall decorations. Event is free for residents, tickets for family are available through New Horizons. Hearthstone has a table with our crafts for sale.

Monday, September 8 th
Honoring the artist “Grandma Moses”
This will be a day long acknowledgment of this inspirational woman. Let's learn all about her life, her art, try our hand at creating our own artwork culminating in a cupcake treat to toast Grandma Moses' birthday.

Wednesday, September 10 th
Annual Pumpkin Festival
We will honor the “Pumpkin Capital of the World”, Morton , IL , and learn all about their traditional pumpkin festival. We will make mini pumpkin pies, and decorate pumpkins to display throughout our home.

Wednesday, September 17 th
Chuck Dee
Chuck Dee will perform! Gather in the living room at 6:00 pm, and be entertained by one of our returning favorites. Be prepared to sing along.

Monday, September 15 th
Piano with Richard Hughes
FAMILIES INVITED!!!! Please join us for this special event! Our friend Richard Hughes will be with us to showcase our Player Piano, celebrate National Piano Month, the birthday of Irving Berlin, and it is a Harvest Moon, to boot! Enjoy mulled cider and spice donuts. Feel free to sing along. Invitations will be mailed for RSVP. 6-7 pm.

Monday, September 22 nd
International Eat and Apple Day
Celebrate the first day of Fall by participating in the “International Eat an Apple Day”. Let's sample a variety of the apples available to us! We will make apple crisp in the morning , and share it together with spiced chai tea.

Wednesday, September 24 th
Marti Sawyer
At 6pm we will gather to hear the multi talented Marti Sawyer sing and play her harp. Always a great show!

Resident Council Meeting

Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend our monthly council meeting to offer input, make suggestions, and review the items on our agenda. Your contributions are a necessary and valuable part of building our community.
