Every Hearthstone Treatment Residence is specially
and specifically designed and equipped to meet the needs of our residents.
Hearthstone employs an environmental design approach based on the most
up-to-date research.
Exit Control Doors:
These are designed to blend into the setting and have coded pushpads
to limit residents' access to unsafe areas outside the residence
Walking Paths: Visually engaging paths are available to accommodate
pacing and encourage residents to move around the residence independently
Individual Privacy: Hearthstone appreciates each resident's
need to have privacy and to be surrounded by familiar things
Common Spaces: Common areas are designed to accommodate the
overall size and needs of the residence with special attention given
to kitchen, living room, and activity spaces
Outdoor Freedom: Residents have access to safe and supportive
healing gardens or other outdoor spaces that provide understandable
stimulation and a healing relationship to light, fresh outdoor air
and the natural world
Residential Scale: All rooms and furnishings as well as programs
are designed to reflect a residential setting - to feel "homey"
Autonomy Support: Both Hearthstone's environment and programs
encourage residents to use their remaining abilities to carry out
daily routines and support them in doing so
Sensory Stimulation: Sounds, sights and smells are managed
so sensory stimulation is familiar and meaningful and overstimulation
is avoided |
