This two day program focuses on Hearthstone’s I’m Still Here™ Montessori-Based Activity Program (MAP)™, an innovative method of working with older adults living with cognitive impairments based on the educational philosophies of famed childhood educator, Maria Montessori.

This methodology has been researched for over 15 years and has been shown to increase levels of engagement and participation in activities of persons living with dementia. Participants in this course will learn the basic principles of this methodology, along with ideas on how to adapt this training to meet the needs of their clients and facilities.

Presenter: Mike Skrajner, Director of Research and Development at Hearthstone and co-developper of the Montessori-based approach.

Intended Audience: any person who provides care or companionship for persons with memory impairment including: Activity Professionals, CNAs, Social Workers, Physical/Occupational Therapists, and Facility Administrators.

The seminar on Day One provides an overview for administrators, supervisors, and others who do not need instruction on implementation. Both days of training would be beneficial for direct care workers. CEs and certificates of completion are available, please contact us for more details.
